On September 6, the team working on the project “Private Hosting of Refugees from Ukraine in Polish Homes. Everyday Humanitarianism and Encounters across Difference” met at the headquarters of the Institute of Anthropology and Ethnology and the Centre for Migration Studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University for a kick-off meeting before beginning the research phase. Five of us will go on field research (including Wrocław, Poznań, Wolsztyn, Wronki, and Żydowo), and one person will sit in front of the computer to explore the Internet working as a so-called “desk researcher”. During our meeting, we selected research sites, developed research tools, and discussed good practices, including ethics and ways of registering and safely storing data.
Keep your fingers crossed for our success in reaching out to the hosts, guests and everyone who participated in the hosting of refugees (activists, social workers, non-governmental activists, mayors, village heads, parish priests, etc.)!
